Wildlife

Beautiful birds and wildlife roam free in Mauritus. A trip to the National Park, Casela Bird Sanctury or Botanical Gardens at Pamplemouses are a must for those interested in the Country's amazing colourful tropical species. In the Botanical Gardens you'll find Giant tortoises, deer, and obviously some beautiful birds. The Pink Pigeon, the worlds rarest pigeon can be seen in some places in wet upland forrests of the south west of the island. The Echo Parakeet, the world's rarest parrot can be found in the national park. Le Val Nature Park In the south east of the island is Le Val Nature Park. Boasting natural aquatic life such as shrimps, eels and freshwaterfish. Also found there are anthurium green houses, watercress ponds, a deer park, monkeys and birds. Vanilla Crocodile and Tortoise Park A beautiful place with banna trees, palm trees, lush tropical flora and fauna and giant bambous. Over one thousand Nile crocodiles are bred here as well as giant tortoises. Casela Bird Park Close to Flic-en-flac on the west coast of the island, is the Casela Bird Park. Hosting over 140 different breeds of birds from around the world, including the rare and beautiful Pink Pigeon. In addition to the birds, is also a 150 year old giant tortoise. Entrance fee is around just £2.50 GBP
