Most hotels around the island host a "Sega Night". This usually revolves around an international cuisine all-you-can-eat buffet, followed by some light entertainment and then moving onto a performance by some of the country's dancers. The Sega Dance is the country's native dance, brought to Mauritius by Africans in it's early days. All Mauritius young to old will be more than willing to boogie on down and show you how it's done. Originally performed on the beach around a fire, some Hotels will traditionally have the dance performed on their private beach, and other's will have it on their dance floor. Whereever they decide to do it, be ready when the dancers begin to mingle with the crowd and attempt to get as many people involved as possible. If dancing's not your thing, just sit back, order a cocktail and enjoy the show.
